Esports

Esports (electronic sports) are video game competitions in which players participate, either as amateurs or professionals, either in person or online.

"All esports are video games, but not all video games are esports."

Just as the video game industry in Mexico has grown exponentially in recent years, so has the number of pro players and organizations (teams) participating in both national and international competitions. Therefore, they must have sufficient and comprehensive legal advice to carry out the execution of any type of contract, from the signing of employment contracts, sponsorship contracts, to confidentiality agreements.

On the other hand, pro players and organizations are not the only ones that are part of the esports ecosystem, as we also find content creators, coaches, representatives, competition organizers (leagues), along with their entire work team (staff), casters, streamers, sponsoring brands, and private investors.

As a result of the above, at LRA Legal & Sports, we understand the needs and interests of each party involved in the esports industry, providing the following services:

  • Legal advice to pro players, organizations, coaches, competition organizers, technical staff, and sports associations related to esports.
  • Legal advice to representatives of pro players and organizations.
  • Advice on doping matters.
  • Legal advice to players in training and minors.
  • Legal advice on Image Rights.
  • Legal advice to casters, streamers, and content creators.
  • Legal advice to organizations on the transfer and legal acquisition of players.
  • Drafting and negotiating employment contracts.
  • Drafting and negotiation of representation and/or intermediary contracts.
  • Drafting and negotiation of sponsorship contracts.

Litigation

  • Legal representation of pro players, organizations, coaches, representatives, leagues, sports associations, and companies involved in the esports industry before ordinary courts.
  • Legal representation of pro players, organizations, coaches, representatives, leagues, sports associations, and companies involved in the esports industry before the Appeals and Arbitration Commission of Sports (CAAD), regarding appeal procedures, as well as any alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, conciliation, and arbitration, both nationally and internationally.
